Welcome to "It Follows"

A game built specifically for the PirateSoftware Game Jam (#15). The theme of the game was supposed to be "Shadow" and "Alchemy." My goal for this game jam was to make a simple game with the limited amount of time I have at my disposal. I have achieved my goal. I am a winner! A message to Thor and co. Thank you. I had a blast making this very basic game. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I've made some additions, coyote time for better control, and a reset hotkey if you get stuck.

How to play: W/A/S/D or ← / ↑ / → / ↓. "Esc" to reset.

The game runs natively at 800x600, however, Firefox is having issues with the embed. It will pop-out at full screen, showing more to the player than is intended. The game remains functional. Other browsers seem to work without this issue. Please enjoy in either form, as the game remains functional.

As part of the Jam, a GDD is required to be uploaded. You can find mine here: Game Design Document

I love the concept put it feels really unfair that the enemy can teleport. I also got stuck and had to restart

Thanks for playing. Your shadow will always follow you. If somehow you get away from it, it'll find its way back.

As for the getting stuck, I've never seen it myself, but this is the second report. I don't know why it happens. Likely a collision layer issue.

Maybe it could teleport to a random  point a bit further away?

It wasn't a collision issue. I just couldn't jump out of a dead end

A deadend? Oh, that's a new one.Can you tell me where it is?

And yeah, maybe the teleportation is a bit close. I liked it when  Iplay tested it, but I can see how it might be a bit aggressive for others.

I remember it was somewhere in the step/maze bit

Hmm, you should be able to jump out. there's really only one way out of the bottom, and you need to go to the right.

Surprisingly challenging! I guess the goal is getting all the colored diamonds?

Yes, that is the goal. The last one is the most challenging. However, someone was able to achieve it. :)

The game is suppose to embed, but this fails in Firefox, causing a shift in window size, showing more to the player than intended.

Other browsers test okay. Unsure of the reason.

I think that is an itch.io thing with firefox. It is my understanding that you can't currently embed games on itch on firefox, it always opens up a new window for technical reasons I don't understand

Yeah, from what I understand, it has soemthing to do with security headers. But that's way above my head. I just put a warning in there to let people know it changes how the game is experienced.
